Project Description
A 256-page hard cover book highlighting celebrating the 100th anniversary of AWCI broken down by chapter/decade. Opportunities for decade sponsorship were offered to advertisers, who promptly jumped on the opportunity. I was provided with digital and hard copy images, copy and a rough overview. I created the imposition and single-handedly designed this entire publication–from typography, to graphic selection to photo editing to scanning/touchups of archival photography and everything in between. The older demographic of our readers called for a proper typeface that could be sized to an 11pt/12pt size for body copy while allowing a comfortable amount of leading to maintain a sense of airiness throughout the each page. I wanted the publication to feel like a pleasure to read versus a college textbook. Each section follows a similar style but has a specific color bleeding of the edge of the page so a reader who wishes to quickly flip through to find a specific decade can easily identify where they’re at. Of all my pieces I’ve designed over the course my design career, this is near the very top.
